Junk food vs. Health food. Which sells better?

There is a huge health food craze happening. Everyone tries to be concious about healthy eating. It’s becoming a national trend. Vendors all across the country are capitalizing on that trend by providing healthier snacks and drinks to be competitive to the changing tastes of the consumers.

Food manufacturers are increasing the varities of healthy foods in addition to the typical candy bars and bag of chips. Companies like Nabisco came out with perfect 100 calorie snack packs for just about any type of snack they offer. Those items are perfect for a vending machine and offers the consumer both a healthy snack and convenience on the go.   Zero calorie drinks are available and range from flavored water to energy drinks to sodas and juices.

Of course, there’s still a percentage of consumers that stick with the basics of snacking on a Snickers bar and a Pepsi during their work break. That’s why vending machines are so perfect for places that have to accommodate both junk food lovers and health enthusiasts. You can have items from both spectrums. The great thing about vending machines is that you have both junk foods and health foods inside one machine. You can literally have everything available for a consumer and they can choose when they step in front of your vendor.

The reality is, a person goes up to a vending machine to make an impulse purchase. The average will purchase junk food before they think logically and pick healthy food. You will almost always sell more junk food then health food. The best bet would be to only carry one or two health food items and that will accommodate everyone.
